Salmonella. E. coli. Cryptosporidium. As anyone who has experienced it will attest, foodborne illness is no joke. Fresh produce is especially high risk because it is often consumed raw. Fruit and vegetable growers have a vital role in supplying secure and safe produce, especially those selling to institutions such as schools, grocers and wholesalers.
