Virus VUCA forces business to adapt
First coined by the U.S. Army War
College in 1987 to describe the state of
the world following the Cold War, the
term VUCA – volatility, uncertainty,
complexity and ambiguity – is more relevant
today than ever. While the business
world was already facing widespread
challenges due to the inexorable growth
of e-commerce, the arrival of COVID-
19 in the United States this year sent
the business world into a tailspin, producing
the highest level of VUCA in all
history.
