The main functions of packaging are to prevent damage during handling, shipment and delivery to the customer. In terms of cost, packaging does not add value but is an essential part of the process. Packaging design depends on many factors such as size, weight, how delicate is the product, product features, shelf life, temperature and the mode of shipment.
