Total productive maintenance is often the missing link in U.S. companies

Many companies have optimized manufacturing processes using lean Six Sigma principles. However, maintenance processes are considered by many to be out of the realm for process improvement. Downtime and production capacity of a manufacturing plant are affected substantially by maintenance activities, but most in management leave this to chance. Companies are missing out by not focusing on maintenance to help improve a plant’s reliability, productivity and profitability.
