IISE Construction engineering and management Division best Student Paper Competition

The IISE Construction Division is holding its annual Best Student Paper Competition. Papers should demonstrate or describe the use of construction techniques, such as lean methods, quality management, sustainable construction, simulation, optimization, automation, or alternative materials. The first place winner will receive a $750 stipend to travel to the conference and present their student paper at the Construction Town Hall meeting at the IISE Annual Conference & Expo, May 18-21, 2024, in Montreal, Canada.

Eligibility requirements

  • Open to both undergraduate and graduate students and design teams.
  • Open only to students attending universities in the United States.
  • Must be a member of IISE or must agree to become members before the award is made.
  • Papers must be no more than 6 pages in length and follow the competition guidelines.
  • No more than two student co-authors per paper.
  • Papers co-authored by professors are excluded from the competition, but your professor's assistance is welcome.
  • The first place winner must agree to attend to the IISE Annual Conference & Expo on May 18-21, 2024, to present the winning paper.
  • Award will be presented at the IISE Annual Conference & Expo Town Hall.

Recognition

  • $750 travel stipend
  • Recognition at the Annual Conference
    • at the CEM Town Hall Meeting
    • before the final day keynote address
  • Certificate provided by IISE (hard copy with cover) for the 1st prize winner.
  • Digital certificate provided by IISE for 2nd and 3rd prize winners
  • Recognition in ISE magazine
  • Recognition on CEM webpage and in the newsletter

Important dates and information

  • Competition Paper submission deadline: February 18, 2024.
  • Submit your paper to both Dr. Emily Wall and Dr. Henry Lester
  • Competition winner will receive notification by March 24, 2024.
