IISE U.S. Western Region

Welcome to the U.S. Western Region of IISE, which includes the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The U.S. Western Region currently consists of five professional chapters and 23 student chapters representing approximately 1,760 professionals and 800 students.

Vision: To create an environment for Western region IE students and professionals to continually grow personally and professionally.

Mission Statement: The Western IISE region aims to:

  • Promote an IE community that supports each other through our IISE organization.
  • Develop and share innovative solutions within IISE to grow personally and professionally.
  • Practice sustainable solutions to benefit the present and future IE generations.

Regional Vice President - Dr. Payam Parsa

Payam Parsa Dr. Payam Parsa has been actively involved with the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) since 2012. He started as a student member attending annual conferences, serving as session chair, and promoting IISE as campus officer for the student chapters at Southern Illinois University and the University of Arkansas.

Dr. Parsa joined California State Polytechnic University Pomona in the fall of 2017 as Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering. He currently teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of Logistics & Supply Chain, Facility Logistics, Statistics, and Engineering Economics. After transitioning to a faculty role in 2017, he continued his engagement with IISE by serving as a board member of the Logistics and Supply Chain Division for two terms, totaling four years. During this time, Dr. Parsa co-chaired the Logistics and Supply Chain Track for three consecutive years at the annual conferences. Additionally, he contributed to the organization of webinars and panel discussions focused on emerging areas within the supply chain and logistics, helping to foster knowledge sharing and professional development within the IISE community.

Responsibilities of Region Leaders

The major responsibility of the region leaders is to support the professional and student chapters. They also have responsibility to keep IISE headquarters, in particular the CN (chapter networking) staff, and the senior vice president (SVP) of CN up-to-date with chapter activities.
