NC State Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering

The Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering  (ISE) at NC State is one of only five named ISE departments in the United States and ranks among the top 15 programs in the country according to U.S. News and World Report. The department currently has a rich and diverse research portfolio in: advanced and biomedical manufacturing, health systems, human systems, supply chain and logistics, and systems analytics and optimization.  NC State ISE also supports two other academics programs and a degree:  operations research, integrated manufacturing systems engineering, and Master of Engineering Management.  We also have strong connections with other departments, other universities, medical schools, and other external partners.  It houses two state-funded centers:  The Ergonomics Center of North Carolina which is the only center of its kind at a U.S. public research institution, and The Center for Additive Manufacturing and Logistics which is one of the most advanced manufacturing and 3D printing laboratories in the country.

The Wm Michael Barnes '64 Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering is one of six named programs in the country with over 1,500 students. Ranked eighth in public undergraduate and graduate programs by the U.S. News and World Report, focus areas are advanced manufacturing, data science and engineering, health and human systems engineering, and operations research.

The department is now offering a new Bachelor of Science in Data Engineering. Other degrees offered are Bachelor of Science, Master of Engineering, Master of Science, and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Master of Engineering in Systems Engineering, and Master of Science in Engineering Management.
