NOMINAL SIZE. The dimensional designation of size which is used for the purpose of general identification.

NONTRADITIONAL MACHINING PROCESSES. A multitude of metal removal operations which do not rely on mechanical energy for machining; e.g. electrodischarge machining, electro-chemical milling.

NOSE RADIUS OF THE CUTTING EDGE OF THE TOOL. It is the radius generated at the intersection of the leading and trailing edges of the tool measured in the plane of the tool face.

NUMERICAL CONTROL. A method of controlling the movements of machine tools by numbers (numerical). It is defined as a system in which actions are controlled by the direct insertion of numerical data at some point; the system must automatically interpret this data.
