DEBURRING. Removing burrs left by machining, shearing, and casting operations. Deburring is usually done by grinding.
DEPTH OF CUT. The thickness of the workpiece to be removed by the tool.
DIELECTRIC (IN EDM). Fluid used to cool and flush particles as they are machined and form a dielectric barrier between the electrode and the workpiece.
DIVIDING HEAD, UNIVERSAL. (See UNIVERSAL DIVIDING HEAD.)
DRESSING (OF GRINDING WHEELS). Manually or automatically sharpening and/or trueing of grinding wheels, usually with diamond tool.
DULL TOOL. Any cutting tool or grinding wheel which needs resharpening or dressing.
