KANBAN. An order point scheduling approach, which uses fixed lot sizes of materials in standard containers with the cards attached to each. Material reorder is triggered at the last minute, when the lot of material is moved to the point of use.
KITTING. The process of removing components of an assembly from the stockroom and sending them to the assembly floor as a kit of parts. (See PICKING.)
