YAW. (1) The rotational or oscillatory movement of an aircraft, rocket, or the like about a vertical axis. The amount of this movement is the angle of yaw. (2) To cause to rotate about a vertical axis.
YAW AXIS. A vertical axis through an aircraft, rocket, or similar body, about which the body yaws. Also called a yawing axis.
YAWING MOVEMENT. A movement that tends to rotate an aircraft, etc., about a vertical axis.
YES-NO EXPERIMENT. An experiment in which each trial contains a single observation interval and the subject judges whether or not a stimulus was presented during that interval.
