Reservations

A dedicated website is now available for attendees to book their hotel rooms online. Book your group rate for Engineering Lean and Six Sigma (ELSS) 2019. A limited number of rooms are available at the conference rate of $169 for a single or double plus applicable state and local taxes (17%). All reservations must be accompanied by a first night deposit or guaranteed with a major credit card. The hotel will not hold any reservations unless they are secured by one of the above methods.

The cutoff date to book reservations is Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, or when the room block is full. Quoted sleeping room rates will be offered, based on availability, three days before and three days after the conference dates.

Reservations cancelled within (72) hours of arrival will be charged one night’s room & tax, including no-shows. Guest departing late may incur an additional night rate and tax. Guests need to check with the Front Desk on available for late checkout.

Hotel Parking: The Magnolia Hotel has extended a discounted parking to ELSS attendees. Discounted overnight valet parking is valet is $25/night plus tax per day.

Time zone: Houston is in the Central Time Zone. Daylight Saving Time starts on March 10, 2019 and it ends on November 3, 2019. The time zone during this period is known as Central Daylight Time (EDT) and is 5 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

By Air -  Fly to Houston  

George Bush Intercontinental Airport Houston (IAH) is approximately 23 miles north of downtown Houston and 20 miles from the Magnolia Hotel. The airport is located between Interstate 45 and Interstate 69 / U.S Highway 59, inside the Houston city limits. It is frequently referred to as Houston Airport. Bush Intercontinental is the headquarters of United Airlines, and is United's largest hub, with 800 daily departures. Houston Airport is named after George H. W. Bush, the 41st President of the United States. The airport has flights to parts of the United States, as well as to Canada, Central and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia.

Houston William P. Hobby Airport HOU serves the City of Houston in South Texas, and is Houston's secondary commercial aviation facility, handling the area's domestic flights - while recently also adding international flights. HOU is owned and operated by the City of Houston. Due to its convenient location, Hobby Airport is also accessible to a large portion of the population of the Houston-Clear Lake-Galveston area. HOU Airport is located about seven miles from the business district of the City of Houston (Texas).
With four runways and 12.9 million passengers in 2016, William P. Hobby Airport is largest hub airport for Southwest Airlines, and it is served by several major, regional and low-cost airlines offering direct flights with connections around the world.

International Travelers

A United States visitors (B-1) visa allows a foreign citizen to travel to a port of entry and request admission into the United States from a U.S. immigration inspector. Begin your visa application process as early as possible as it could take several months to process.

U.S. Citizens - Air Travel
All U.S. citizens including children must present a passport or other approved travel document when entering the United States by air. U.S. citizens can present a passport, NEXUS card at airports with NEXUS kiosks, U.S. military ID with travel orders, or a U.S. Merchant Mariner Document when on official business.

U.S. Citizens - Land/Sea Travel
U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry are required to have documents that comply with the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), most commonly a U.S. passport, a passport card, a trusted traveler card such as NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST, or an enhanced driver's license.
