Learning lessons from a sustainable building

My last column (“Designing Construction for Sustainability,” December) examined the buildings and infrastructure component of the “built environment” as a way to improve sustainability. In the U.S., the most recognized guideline is the Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building certification program.
