Inside IIE Journals

This month we highlight a pair of articles that describe new developments in quality engineering. The first write-up describes a method to determine both the best model form and estimate parameter values when monitoring quality with profile data. A case study with low-E glass is described. The second piece shows how the effect of latent variables can be estimated through their relationship to observable variables. The method is used to characterize polyvinyl alcohol-treated buckypaper. These articles will appear in the February 2015 issue of IIE Transactions (Volume 47, No. 2).
