Be interested in the boring inertia of our systems

Earlier this year, an hourslong power outage crippled Spain and Portugal, sending engineers, policymakers and society at large running for answers. Curious, I followed its coverage over the next few months, and a May 23 story in particular – “Am I Boring You? Good” by Tim Harford, “Undercover Economist” at The Financial Times – grabbed by attention.
