What day is it in the pond?

When I first began to expand my formal industrial engineering education to include systems thinking concepts, Peter Senge introduced me to the “29th day” French riddle. Senge used this riddle to help people better grasp how quickly exponential change can affect our lives. His chief concern was that we would wait too long to address environmental concerns such as those Frank and Donella Meadows raised in their “Limits to Growth” work.
