Engineering patient care at a cancer hospital in Pakistan

I work as a quality and patient safety professional in Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Center, one of Pakistan’s leading hospitals. It was established by Pakistan’s Cricket World Cup winning captain, now Prime Minister Imran Khan. The inspiration came after his mother, Shaukat Khanum, succumbed to cancer in 1985. During his mother’s illness, he witnessed up close the plight of poor cancer patients in the hospitals of Pakistan and realized the need for a specialized cancer center in this country.
