A kanban system for high-mix, low-volume environment

Kanban can be defined as a visual signal system sent to deliver or make parts as required by end users. It is a replenishment system for both production and manufacturing internally to enable tracking inventory based on pull production. It is one of the cornerstones of Toyota and lean manufacturing systems using principles of a pull system and visual control to manage inventory systems. Its focus also is on making defect-free parts, a two-bin system, simple communication and standardized handling processes.
