Applying IISE’s BoK for capacity planning
System dynamics is a highly abstract method of modeling that focuses on representing the system structure and behavior through causal loop diagrams and detailed stock-and-flow diagrams for qualitative analysis of the system. Its ability to ignore minor details of individual properties of people, products or events, unlike in discrete event simulation, produces a general representation of the complex system being studied.

Aerospace provides us with public and very dangerous examples of failure because the systems designed are complex and safety is critical. But every product requires some amount of reliable operation Fortunately, in most cases, lives are not at stake, but the fortunes of many companies are.
