Statistical methods help manufacturer eliminate cost variance and secure future contracts

Improving cost accuracy may seem like an exercise with only two possible outcomes: uneventfully meet expectations of success or draw criticism for any other result. This was the scenario at a manufacturer of custom-engineered, large-scale heat exchangers. The company had comfortable levels of demand, revenue and capacity, but slight errors in quoting kept costing the company sales.
