VINOD SAHNEY AWARD: SYSTEMS ENGINEERING APPLICATION TO IMPROVE HEALTHCARE
The Vinod Sahney Award recognizes professionals who use systems engineering concepts to improve care by partnering with clinicians, administration, and patients to improve efficiency and effectiveness of care.

Eligibility
This award is open to process improvement professionals committed to providing outstanding patient care through improvements in care delivery systems.
Award
The winner will be awarded $2,000 for travel and attendance cost at the Healthcare Process Improvement Conference. The winner will also receive a plaque and be asked to present at the HSPI Conference.
Nomination process
- Complete and return the submission form to
questions.shs@gmail.com.
- Application due by November 1.
- Award to be announced by December 1.
- Includes demographic section, responses to specific questions about improvement, up to 7 pages explaining the improvement.
- Submission endorsed by CEO, CFO, or COO (or another C-Suite executive)
- Nominee must be a member of the Society for Health Systems (join here).
- Nominee must have submitted an abstract for the HSPI 2025 conference.
Judging
This award is judged by a committee appointed by the Society for Health Systems Board of Directors. Judging will be based on the following criteria: use of new or established systems engineering concepts;
level of care improvement; partnership with clinicians, administration and patients; improvements to efficiency; and effectiveness of care.
