Andy & Me: Crisis and Transformation on the Lean Journey is based on the author’s personal experience with Toyota senseis. Set in a failing New Jersey auto plant called New Jersey Motor Manufacturing, the story follows the plant manager, Tom Papas.
The story is set in a real world manufacturing environment with operational, political, and motivational challenges. Through the story of Tom tackles the lean journey with his sensei Andy, a former Toyota executive. Within this story, insights and real examples of PDCA, Lean, TPS and leadership are highlighted. The transformation of the production plant to the Toyota approach to lean manufacturing is shown through the real examples and through the character Tom. The journey of Tom shows how the Toyota Production System is more than just tools. TPS is a culture and a way of thinking.

This is not your typical text book on lean, rather an entertaining story that captures opportunities and pitfalls on the lean journey.
