QUALITY (CONTROL) CIRCLE. A small group of employees drawn from the same work area who meet regularly and voluntarily to identify, solve, and, on occasion, implement solutions to work related problems.

QUALITY FUNCTION DEPLOYMENT (QFD). A system that pays special attention to customer wants and integrates these into the marketing, design, manufacturing, and service processes.  Activities that do not contribute to customer wants are considered wasteful.

QUALITY OF WORK LIFE (QWL).  (1) A multifaceted concept whereby the work environment is meaningful to employees.  Components include autonomy, recognition, belonging, process and development, and external rewards. (2) The extent to which working in an organization enables members to feel that they are masters of their work environment and that they and their work are important
