NET CHANGE MRP. A method where the material requirements plan is continually retained in the computer. Whenever there is a change in requirements, open order or inventory status, or engineering usage, a partial explosion is made only for those parts affected by the change. Net change systems may be continuous, transaction oriented, or periodic (often daily). (See REGENERATION MRP, REQUIREMENTS ALTERATION.)

NET REQUIREMENTS. In MRP, the net requirements for a part or an assembly are derived as a result of netting gross requirements against inventory on hand and the scheduled receipts. Net requirements that are lot sized and offset for lead time become planned orders.

NETTING. The process of calculating net requirements.
