JOB SHOP. A process oriented layout used for low volume, batch, or customized products each of which requires a different set or sequence of tasks. Syn: process shop, function shop.

JUST-IN-TIME (JIT). An inventory control policy that requires the material to arrive at the next work station precisely when it is needed. (See KANBAN.)
