Networking Opportunities

Networking events are the social connections of the conference. According to Harvard Business School, 65 percent to 85 percent of all jobs are filled because someone knows someone else. The activities of the AEC Networking Committee provide opportunities for attendees to have some fun, catch up with fellow attendees and meet new contacts in the industry.

There are four main activities planned each year by the Networking Committee:

First Timer's Orientation

Tuesday, March 26
7:15 – 7:45 a.m.

The First Timer's Orientation assists conference attendees in navigating the conference program and activities to make the best of their time at the meeting. While it's geared toward those new to the conference, it is open to all attendees.

AEC Trivia Game

Tuesday, March 26
2 - 3 p.m.

The AEC Trivia Game has been reformatted to provide a more inclusive and exciting challenge for those interested in testing their knowledge of ergonomic facts, fiction and folklore. A new scramble format has participants meeting and collaborating with new colleagues each round, providing a fun, fast-paced way to make new connections. Everyone plays and even novices could win a prize. Please be present at the beginning of the Game to have the greatest chance of winning.

Networking Event - New Orleans Dinner Jazz Cruise (off-site) - SOLD OUT

Tuesday, March 26
6 – 9 p.m.
Event fee (advance sign-up required):

This Networking Event is the culmination of the Networking Committee's efforts to bring conference attendees together. Each year, we create an opportunity for attendees to gather in a relaxed atmosphere of sharing and networking.

When night falls, the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen rises to the occasion. Step on board and cruise with us into the night where the sleepless activity of America's busiest port buzzes. The sounds of a lively jazz band fill the air as you enjoy a lavish Creole buffet in elegantly appointed dining rooms.

The Creole Queen features outer decks with authentically patterned wrought iron trims inviting guests to stroll back in time as they settle into the mood of a bygone era. The interiors are richly appointed with plush Victorian style draperies, soft period lighting, wooden parquet dance floors and Louisiana Cypress bars accented with brass railing for a warm and welcoming setting.

After dinner, enjoy your favorite cocktails and sweet Mississippi River breezes on the promenade deck as the city skyline slips by under a canopy of stars. This Dinner Jazz Cruise is pure New Orleans, pure pleasure!

The Creole Queen is an authentic paddlewheeler powered by a 24-foot diameter paddlewheel.
