Technology development for building extraterrestrial bases using systems engineering

Early exploration of arctic regions on Earth used small airplanes that could land on snow. Later exploitation required more substantial vessels that could carry large crews and heavy equipment for activities such as drilling oil wells. Several exploratory missions have reached the Earth’s moon and Mars, celestial bodies that promise numerous possibilities.
