Lean principles speed transition of steel coils into residential products

Sheet metal processes are a common feature in manufacturing. These processes generally involve cutting, folding, welding and assembling sheets or making parts out of bar stock and castings. Work teams use machines that include lathes, mills, grinders and borers, as well as assembling the sheets together. Processes deployed depend on the type of product and the complexity of the technology and assembly.
