Why participate in the IISE Mentoring Program?

Mentors: Mentorship provides a rewarding opportunity to give back to your profession. In addition to empowering your mentees, you can also develop useful skills to become an even better leader and advance your own career.

Mentees: Taking part in a mentoring program is one of the best ways to advance your professional development. A dedicated, experienced professional provides advice and support and can help guide you to achieve your professional goals.

What is the difference between a mentor/mentee partnership and a peer partnership?

A peer partnership typically involves two experienced professionals, whereas a mentor/mentee partnership encompasses a less experienced professional paired with a more experienced professional.

What is involved in a typical mentorship?

Mentors provide mentees with occupational advice and information, including important educational and career opportunities. Mentors foster their mentees' professional growth by helping them learn about the industry and develop connections.

Who can participate in the program?

Any current IISE member can contribute as either a mentor or mentee.

How do I join the mentoring program?

Mentors: After you create a mentor account, you will receive an email asking you to validate your account. Following validation, you can complete your mentor profile.

Mentees: After you create a mentee account, you will receive an email asking you to validate your account. Following validation, you can complete your mentee profile.

How do mentors and mentees get matched?

Both mentors and mentees fill out a profile to which both parties can then search for a match based on relevant profiles. Once connected, you’re able to communicate off-line and develop a mentorship.

What is the time commitment?

The mentor and mentee determine their own time commitment based on professional goals.
