Inside IISE Journals

This month we highlight two articles from IISE Transactions. The first article studies how to efficiently and effectively use operating rooms (ORs), recovery resources and human resources such as nurses and surgeons in a hospital. The paper develops a two-phase approximation method that can be used to tackle this problem in a computationally tractable way. The second article investigates if remanufacturing issues should be considered in the design stage and develops analytical models and numerical experiments that determine the optimal design choice considering market competition and time. These articles will appear in the October 2017 issue of IISE Transactions (Volume 49, No. 10).
