Writing this article on Labor Day – when we reflect on and celebrate the American worker – underscores how this sector of the nation's economy personifies the achievements and the challenges of the American labor force. Buffeted by technology, trade policy, noncompetitive wages and a strong dollar, the American factory worker doggedly struggles on.
