Middle school track coach derived method that many use to sustain lean

Mention the word lean and most, if not all, people in manufacturing, from senior vice presidents down to people on the line, know what you’re talking about. So why are so few companies successful in fully implementing the process? It could be because many have missed one key aspect: the human side of lean. Machines are clean, procedures are posted, yet so many employees are disengaged from their work and are not motivated to do more for themselves or their companies.
