What’s New?

1. Presenters now have the ability to link your abstract to a recognized IISE group. This will make it easier to find abstracts related to a particular society or division.

2. Two presentation formats have been added:

  • Interactive – Will allow a speaker with a standard oral presentation more time in order to incorporate a defined audience participation activity into the presentation.
  • PechaKucha – Allows speakers to sign up for a special interactive session where presentations are delivered exclusively in the 20x20 format (20 images for 20 seconds each).

Oral presentations will have a duration of either 20 minutes or 40 minutes for a lengthier discussion.  All other presentation types (except Pecha Kucha) will be be 80 minutes.

Conference events and educational sessions will be held at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort.

ABET - Preparing for ABET Accreditation Visits

The IISE Accreditation Advisory Council again will sponsor a workshop at the IISE Annual Conference & Expo to help industrial engineering and industrial engineering technology department chairs and assessment coordinators prepare for upcoming ABET accreditation visits. It will focus on assembling documentation and making arrangements in advance of an accreditation visit, with a specific emphasis on industrial engineering program criteria.

The session can accommodate up to 50 people, and pre-registration is required. To pre-register, email Bonnie Cameron at



Doctoral Colloquium
Saturday, May 19
7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The Council of Industrial Engineering Academic Department Heads (CIEADH) and the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) requests nominations for the IISE Doctoral Colloquium to be held Saturday, May 19, 2018 preceding the IISE Annual Conference and Expo in Orlando, Florida.  

This all-day event is designed for doctoral candidates expecting to graduate by the Spring of 2019.  Panels of experts will lead discussions on various topics including the job search, life in academia and industry, the tenure process, teaching, research, and professional service. Students are required to present their dissertation research in a poster session on Sunday, May 20. A panel will review the posters and award a best poster designation on Sunday, so students should plan to attend the Sunday session of the conference. All posters will remain on display during the conference on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

New Faculty Colloquium
Saturday, May 19
7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The Council of Industrial Engineering Academic Department Heads (CIEADH) and the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) will hold the 2018 New Faculty Colloquium, May 19, preceding the IISE Annual Conference and Expo in Orlando, Florida.

This all-day event is designed for new faculty (specifically junior faculty within their first three years on a tenure-track assistant professor appointment) to provide information that can be useful for successfully navigating the challenges of an academic career and gaining tenure and promotion. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, network with peers and interact with senior-level professors.
