Facility tours offer an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at continuous improvement in action at various facilities in a variety of industries. An additional fee is required for each tour to participate.


Tompkins International Emerging Technology Center SOLD OUT

Facility Tour Description:
The Tompkins Emerging Technology Center is a leading-edge test facility for new and exciting Distribution Center automation technologies.  The facility tour will provide a view of the latest in robotic sortation and picking as well as more conventional conveyor technology.  Tour participants will have the opportunity to see the world’s first portable robotic sortation solution that will dramatically change both unit and parcel sortation.  We will also be demonstrating various aspects of the connected warehouse using IoT technology and our SensorThink technology platform.

Amazon Fulfillment Center SOLD OUT

Facility Tour Description:
Join us at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Lakeland, Florida!
We will gather for a powerpoint overview and tour the general day to day activities of the facility.

Tour Restrictions:
Security Issues: Preclearance required. Amazon will need attendee names, birthdays, and company (or school, if a student) prior to tour.
Driver’s license or State Identification required
No cellular phones allowed
No cameras allowed
Special Needs/Equipment/Shoes: Close toed shoes


Publix Refrigerated Distribution Center

This tour is designed for students only.

Facility Tour Description:
This tour of the Publix Orlando Refrigerated Distribution Center, includes: frozen foods, dairy boxed meat and produce departments. This tour will showcase Publix Distribution Operations and process improvement initiatives.

Tour Restrictions:
No competitors allowed
No cameras allowed

Special Needs/Equipment/Shoes: Appropriate clothing for temperatures ranging from -20F to +55F. Closed shoes, socks, Pants/slacks, Jacket, and Gloves (optional).

On this tour, the Universal Parks & Resorts Industrial Engineering will provide an in-park perspective on capacity planning and efficiencies analysis during the design process, testing of technology, and current operations of a brand-new water theme park.
